The range is extremely broad:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>right to a fair trial in both civil and criminal proceedings,<\/li>\n<li>violation of property rights,<\/li>\n<li>tax cases, complaints with regards to prison conditions,<\/li>\n<li>freedom of speech,<\/li>\n<li>prohibition on torture and inhuman treatment (in particular in complaints with respect to measures such as imprisonment or police brutality committed during interrogations), and many more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Perhaps the scope of those who might turn to the ECHR can be best summarised by this phrase: anyone who was involved in proceedings or an event which cannot be deemed fair.
